Business Plan news item
Secondary legislation is now in place requiring the Council to submit a three-year Business Plan to the Scottish Parliament.

Senator member to chair meetings
Lord Turnbull, the senator member of the Council, will chair future meetings until a new Lord Justice Clerk is appointed.

Prosecutor member awarded CBE
Catherine Dyer, the prosecutor member of the Council, has been awarded a CBE for her services to law and order.

New Lord President
The Council’s Chair, Lord Carloway, has been appointed as the new Lord President of the Court of Session, head of Scotland’s judiciary. This means he will automatically vacate his Council position once installed in early January.

Inaugural meeting
The Council’s inaugural meeting was held in Parliament House on 14 December when members laid the ground for future work, including an agreement to consult fully on sentencing guidelines.
