New committees announced
The Council has established two committees to take communications and research work forward.
Members agreed at their recent meeting held on 14 September to establish the new committees to support work promoting awareness and understanding of sentencing, and to facilitate research on sentencing matters. The Research Committee is keen to hear from interested academics and researchers who specialise in any aspect of the sentencing process.
The minutes of committee meetings will be posted on the website.
The recent full Council meeting also heard details of current road testing around sentencing guideline styles being carried out with both the judiciary and volunteers without legal knowledge.
Council members were further updated on the launch of the Council’s Business Plan outlining its three-year, work programme.
