Council publishes blog on domestic abuse legislation

In our latest blog, Scottish academics look at the new legislation on domestic abuse and how it fits into the legal landscape.
The review explains that legislation in 2018 was the result of years of campaigning but ended up being introduced shortly before the world experienced the Covid-19 pandemic - a time when research suggests there was an epidemic of violence against women.
It also looks at the development of domestic abuse sentencing in Scotland, and considers the experience of victims.
