Causing death by driving offences - Literature review
Dr Rachel McPherson and Professor Cyrus Tata, from the Centre for Law, Crime & Justice at Strathclyde University, were commissioned by the Scottish Sentencing Council to carry out a literature review examining current sentencing practice and knowledge around causing death by driving offences.
This independent review, will inform the Council’s consideration as it develops a sentencing guideline for causing death by driving offences, as set out in its business plan. The Council took an early decision to adopt an evidence based approach to all of its work and, where possible, to publish the research it carries out or commissions.

As with all independent research, this review does not necessarily reflect the views of the Council.
