High Court approves new guideline on the sentencing of young people which encourages rehabilitation to cut reoffending
The High Court of Justiciary has today approved a new sentencing guideline developed by the Scottish Sentencing Council, which seeks to reduce reoffending among young people.
Sentencing process guideline approved
In a hearing held this morning, three judges of the High Court approved the guideline and confirmed that it will come in to effect for all courts in Scotland from Wednesday 22nd September 2021.
New sentencing guideline aims to demystify sentencing decisions
Following consultation, the Scottish Sentencing Council has finalised a new sentencing guideline setting out the process for all sentencing decisions in Scotland.
